Forensic Consulting

DKM2 investigates building material failures and performance issues, and applies engineering principals to identify causation.  This is a critical and often over-looked first step in any repair process.

Construction Defects, Claims, & Disputes

DKM2 thoroughly evaluates the alleged defect and the resultant damages.  To form an accurate opinion, DKM2 compares the contractor’s performance to all the contract documents, applicable building codes, and industry standards to determine whether or not the work performed met or fell below the standard of care.

Litigation Consulting / Expert Witness

DKM2 provides support to both plaintiff and defense in construction defect lawsuits.  DKM2 has a proven and successful record at trial.  Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex issues in their simplest form are essential for success in a court of law.

Property Loss Consulting – Storm Damage

DKM2 performs detailed investigations of a property that has sustained storm-related damages.  Expert photography, credible weather data, and accurately quantifying the extent of damages expedites the claim process.

Building Sciences

DKM2 has technical knowledge and a thorough understanding of the functionality of a building’s envelope.  This includes performance issues and the risks associated with complex building designs.  It’s one objective to have a structure designed on a set of construction drawings.  It’s another objective to have that structure constructed accurately and functioning correctly.

Owner’s Representative / Project Management

DKM2’s involvement starts with pre-construction and ends with contract compliance.  Selecting a contractor, maintaining the construction schedule, staying on budget, and focusing on a safe work environment reduces risks and leads to a successful project.

Metallurgical and Desaturation Analysis

DKM2’s microscopy analysis can identify and photograph newly-formed corrosion pits within a metal panel roof’s surface.  DKM2’s desaturation analysis can identify and photograph a fractured reinforcing mat within asphalt shingles and modified bitumen membranes.
